Presentation of Sabugal

Sabugal municipality had 14 871 inhabitants in 2001, and it is divided in 31 communes, covering 826,7 km². It belongs to: Guarda District District, traditional province Beira Alta, C.C.R./NUT2 and 1999 ref. adm. region Centro. Surely the flag was changed on 9 December 2005, when Sabugal was promoted to city rank. It really was, and the changes were greater than what is usually done upon upgrading from town to city status: More than just four to five visible towers in the mural crown and (usually) a gyronny background, the arms where also completely changed.
