The municipality of Ipumirim (7,593 inhabitants in 2010; 24,707 ha) is
located 530 km west of Florianópolis.
Ipumirim was established in 1928,
as Harmonia, by the Empresa Colonizadora Eberle-Mosele Ahrons & Cia., which had
founded in 1925 the town of Concórdia. The district of Harmonia was established
in 1938, to be renamed to Rio Branco, and, in 1946, to Ipumirim.
The
municipality of Ipumirim was established by State Law No. 877 promulgated on 29
March 1963 and inaugurated on 7 April 1963.
