The municipality of Jardinópolis (1,766 inhabitants in 2010; 6,810 ha) is
located 650 km west of Florianópolis.
Jardinópolis was settled, as Vila
Jardim, in the late 1940s by descendants of Italian immigrants coming from Rio
Grande do Sul. The first settlers were Ângelo Detoni and Amélio Piccinin, in
1948. They were joined the next year by the families of Maurício Oselame and
Antônio Alberti, and, in 1951, by the families of Félix Kochinski, Antônio
Moterle, Luiz Maria and Vitório Moterle.
The district of Jardinópolis was
established in 1965 within the municipality of Coronel Freitas. The new name of
the settlement was coined by colonist Generino Ferrari.
The municipality of
Jardinópolis was established by State Law No. 8,546 promulgated on 20 March
1992.

Diagonally divided on a rising diagonal blue over green, with a
white-bordered yellow stripe along the diagonal, and in the centre on a white
disk the municipal arms. The flag is shown on andregoth's data at

The flag of Jardinópolis is composed of four colors also part of the national
flag.
Blue, on a scalene triangle limited by a white stripe, represents the
sky.
Green also represented by a scalene triangle in the flag's lower part,
symbolizes reforestation, agriculture and environmental conservation.
Yellow,
represented by a diagonal stripe limited by two white stripes and charged with a
central white circle, represents the municipality's mining resources.
White,
represented by a circle and two stripes, symbolizes purity and peace, charged
with the coat of arms of Jardinópolis.

The coat of arms of Jardinópolis features an horizontal
scroll inscribed with the date of emancipation of the municipality, 20 March
1992, in black letters on a red scroll with the toponym "JARDINÓPOLIS".
The
red scroll's external part supports a maize plant with a ripe cob, yellow spikes
of ripe wheat, plants of beans with ripe pods, characterizing the municipality's
main crops.
The shield features the main sources of income in Jardinópolis,
arranged in three rectangles.
1 - In the upper white rectangle, in the left
part a sowing farmer wearing gray trousers and a red shirt, in the right part, a
red tractor.
2 - In the central, yellow rectangle, two heads of bovine and
pig, respectively, representing animal breeding, and two poultry birds,
representing aviculture.
3 - On top of the lower, white rectangle, two plants
of tobacco, another crop in Jardinópolis. In the rectangle's center, two
Brazilian pines symbolizing rainforest and reforestation, with three logs below.
A semi-circle shaped like a cogwheel representing industry.
In the center of
the upper rectangles, a circle inscribing a hand and a tree seedling, as a
symbol of reforestation, whose characteristic design also alludes to gardening,
the town's namesake.
The crown surmounting the coat of arms, gray, with three
towers outlined in grayish black and three red gates outlined in black, refers
to liberty, union and commitment. The three red gates characterize liberty and
equality between citizens, the town and the government.
