The flag and arms of São Bonifácio are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 983
promulgated on 5 April 1999.
Article 1.
The flag and coat of arms of
the municipality of São Bonifácio have the following characteristics.
The
flag shall be of 1.25 m in length on 0.88 m in width, diagonally divided, the
upper part blue, symbolizing the sky, and the lower part green, symbolizing
forests. In the center, a white lozenge, of 0.62 m on 0.62 m, charged with the
municipal coat of arms, mountains representing the mountainous region, trees
representing the region's resources in timber, a river representing the
waterways and sources abundant in the municipality among green fields; a hoe
symbolizing the man's force in rural zones; the animals bred in the region.
Surrounding the landscape, right a tobacco plant and left a mize plant, the
main crops. Below, a scroll inscribed "São Bonifácio", surrounded by the dates
of colonization and establishment, "1864" and "1962", respectively.
Colors:
Blue (in two shades), brown, pink, white and green.

The flag was originally prescribed by
Municipal Law No. 192 promulgated on 8 September 1977.
The wording of
Article 1 is strictly identical to above, except that:
- the dimensions of
the flag are given as 1.20 m on 0.90 m
- the figure in the center is
prescribed as a square of 0.32 m on 0.32 m.
- the description of the arms
includes "a cross representing people's Christian faith".
