The municipal flag of the Village of Waskatenau (population 260) features
on a white background a freight train crossing a river, a grain elevator and
water tower and a single wild rose (provincial flower). The motto is
“Village of Waskatenau, Country Life at Its Best.” 1932 was the year the
municipality became incorporated. Waskatenau (pronounced WAS-ET-NA) is a
Cree word meaning "opening in the bank".
Village of Waskatenau is
located in rural Northeastern Alberta in the County of Smoky Lake.

The grain elevator looks like the actual Waskatenau Elevator, though the real
thing doesn't look like it's about to plunge into the river. But Darrell's image
is remarkably close to the village logo, where the elevator has that same
curious stance. A short version of the motto appears below the emblem on a white
scroll: Just "Country Life at Its Best." Above the emblem on another white
scroll it says "Village of Waskatenau, Alberta".
