Description of current flag:
The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a blue over yellow over green horizontal tricolour.

The flag was in use since the 30ies of the 20th century, was abolished in times of DDR and reestablished after German reuninon or shortly before. The colours had been taken from the local coat of arms.

The historical flag was confirmed by minister of interior of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania, published in the roll of arms of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania as no. 0057.
