Renaissance shield Or a bend Sable charged with five connected bells Argent.
Meaning:
The municipality adopted the arms of the Augustine Bernried Convent, which moulded the village spiritually and as ruler of the local district (Bavarian: Hofmark) until 1803. The convent was founded in 1120 by Count Otto of Valley. His kin died out in 1238. The arms of the family displayed a bend vair shaped like bells. The existence of the bar with bells in the arms of the convent is proven since 1568.
