Introduction

The author Terry Pratchett was the creator of the Discworld novels, a series of novels about a disc-shaped world, much different from our globe, yet remarkably similar.

The word "flags" is used at least once in his work with the meaning relevant to us. (Also a few times regarding stones, I believe.) I can't right now recall any flag descriptions in the body of his work, though I believe some of the support material does picture flags.

I think some flags were mentioned in the Discworld novels, notably in Night Watch and Monstrous Regiment. The banner-of-arms of Ankh-Morpork city is mentioned, and there might be mentions of military flags in Borogravia. I don't really remember any other occurences.

'Fighting under a flag of surrender? That's... immoral!' said Lord Rust. 'Novel, certainly,' said the Prince.
