Flag
Date: 22nd April 2023
Flag Designer: Tristan Davidson and (a joint entry
from) Eliana, Iris, Meryn & Zar
UK Design Code: UNKG7467
Aspect Ratio: 3:5
Pantone® Colours: Gold 1375, Purple 260, White
Certification: Lord Lyon King
of Arms, Dr Joseph Morrow
Notes: The white castle represents both the
Aberdeenshire’s sobriquet as Scotland’s ‘Castle Country’ but also Balmoral
specifically, whose royal association is referenced by the inclusion of a crown.
The golden-orange colour recalls that of ripening barley, with the county
hosting a quarter of the nation’s arable land, and whisky that some of this is
turned into. The purple symbolises the heather on the mountains.
Blazon: Per
pale Tenné and Purpure, a castle Argent charged with a crown counter-changed of
the field

The unveiling of the flag is documented in The Press and Journal. However, in the flags seen in presented photos and video, the "golden-orange" colour looks as if it inclines more towards yellow than orange - certainly more so than in the images presented during the selection process. The final definition of colours, of course, are presented in the registration by the Flag Institute.
