Album des Pavillons [pay00] shows the admirals' flag as blue square flag with a white cross, notably thinner than in the naval jack and a number of white six-pointed stars depending on the rank as follows:
- Admiral or Chief of Naval Staff: four stars
- Vice Admiral, upper half: three stars
- Vice Admiral, lower half: two stars
- Rear Admiral: one star

Album des Pavillons [pay00] shows the division commanders' flag as blue flag with a white cross, swallow-tailed when the commander is a Captain and triangular when he is of a lower rank. The overall proportion of the flags is 1:1 and the white cross is even thinner than on the Admirals' flag.
