They say they officially use a white flag with a black city emblem however on celebratory occasions such as school entrance ceremony and coming-of-age ceremony they use a white flag with a maroon emblem.
The city emblem was adopted on Jun 28th 2005 by Notice No 91 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a black city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a modified banner of Nitta Family who ruled this area old days which is called 大中黒 Onakaguro meaning a wide "black" horizontal striped white banner. The emblem has a kanji city name in white at the lower right side. It represents a spirit of inherited tradition and an innovation.

The flag of the former town of Nitta is purple with mark. The town is now, from 2005, part of the city of Ota.

The design is based on the Nitta clan family emblem —which features the katakana character ニッタ “Nitta” stylized within a circle with a single thick horizontal line—and symbolizes a thriving town.
