City flag

The city emblem was changed on Mar 31st 2005. The maroon flag charged with the white former city emblem is not used any more. The new city emblem is a stylized hiragana し Sho of Shoubara. The light green color stands for a freshness of the nature and a spirit of challenge and the bright yellow color for the culture, a warmth and a tenderness of the people. It represents an image of the city which grows its culture , nature and peoples love at the stage of a village forest of Chugoku Mountains and makes a leap forward to the future. The new white flag has the two color city emblem in the center.
