Located in Sendai City Miyagi Prefecture and established in 1907. The embroidered ceremonial flag has purple background with a white university emblem in the center and golden fringe. Length 1m, width 1.5m. The university flag has two colors. (1) Vertical flag with the emblem in white on a purple background with the university name in white English written horizontally, 3m in length and 2m in width. (2) Vertical flag with the emblem in purple on a white background with the university name in purple Chinese characters written horizontally, 3m in length and 2m in width. The university emblem is based on the key concepts of "Creativity," "Global," and "Tradition," and is designed with the motif of "bush clover" a plant that symbolizes Sendai, and its movement to expand greatly throughout the world. The emblem was adopted in June 2007, and purple, which expresses intelligence and creativity, was chosen as the university color.
