Description of the flags

• Flag granted: 12 June 1938 by Francis Joseph, the prince regent (see the original letter-of-arms), granted again unchanged 26 November 1948 by Francis Joseph II, the reigning prince [kra82d] [l9i85] [jsu73] (see the letter-of-arms)
• Flag description: three stripes (2:1:2), blue-white-red (Sources: [kra82d] [l9i85] [jsu73].)

Horizontal flag, simple stripes

The French presidential flag with the thin white stripe can’t be mixed up with this flag, as the horizontal version with only stripes does not exist.

• Arms description (German):
  • Schild blau-rot, durch silbernen Pfahl getrennt. Im blauen Feld eine goldene Ähre, im roten waagrecht ein silberner Fluss (Sources: [kra82d] [l9i85].)
  • Durch einen silbernen Pfahl von Blau und Rot gespalten, vorne eine goldene Ähre, hinten ein silberner Querfluss (Sources: [jsu73].)
• Arms blazoning (English): Party by a pallet Argent of Azure, a corn ear Or, and Gules, a fess wavy Argent.
• Arms granted: 26 November 1948 by Francis Joseph II, the reigning prince [kra82d] [jsu73] (see the letter-of-arms), being a simplified version of the arms granted on 12 June 1938 (original letter-of-arms)
• Reasons for the arms: blue and red are the national colours, the corn ear is for agriculture, the fess wavy for the Rhine (Sources: [kra82d] [l9i85] [jsu73])
