It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field (village rank).

The arms are Purpure a rooster Or crested and barbed Gules and two cork oak twigs Argent acorned Argent capsuled Or, all set in chevron. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll "GAFANHOEIRA - SÃO PEDRO" reading in black upper case letters.
Meaning:
The word "gafanhoeira" can be interpreted to mean "leper colony" (from archaic "gafo", "leper") and thus the arms are not canting, depicting instead local produce and the animal-symbol of the patron saint (St. Peter) of the Catholic parish from which the commune was originally developed.

Gafanhoeira Commune (a.k.a. São Pedro de Gafanhoeira, São Pedro da Gafanhoeira, and Gafanhoeira - São Pedro) was one of the pre-2013 communes of Arraiolos Municipality (q.v.); it had 623 inhabitants in 2001 and covered 45,17 km².

Shield Argent, an elder tree eradicated Vert fruited Or, in orle a rope Azure knotted seven times. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black initials: "SABUGUEIRO - ARRAIOLOS".
Meaning:
The elder tree (Latin: Sambucus nigra) is a canting element. The blue Franciscan's cord, i.e. the rope, is an attribute of St. Clara, the local patron saint. Draft designed by Eduardo Lourenço Brito.

Sabugueiro Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Arraiolos Municipality (q.v.); it had 397 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 38.1 km².
