It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of blue and white.

Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base wavy of Vert and Argent, parted by a bend sinsiter wavy Azure, on dexter chief a goshawk volant Sable holding an inescutcheon Azure, charged with five plates in quincunx, by his claws, on sinister base a taro Vert with two leaves. Mural crown with three visible towers(village rank) and white scroll with black inscription "RIBEIRA SECA - CALHETA"
Meaning:
The bend sinister wavy is a representation of the name giving creek (literally: dry crreek). Goshawk and quina, the inescutcheon as described above, are symbols of the Azores. The taro (Latin: Colocasia esculenta), a vegetable root, is growing in the valley oft he local creek. The base wavy is a representation of the Atlantic Ocean, fishery and tourism.

Ribeira Seca is one of the five communes of Calheta (Açores) Municipality; it had 1025 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 53,18 km².
