Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "ALVARES"

Alvares Commune is one of the four communes of Góis Municipality; it had 812 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 100.6 km². Alvares town was seat of a municipality until 1855, consisting of just two communes: Alvares and de Portela do Fojo. It had 2817 inhabitants in 1801 and 3751 inhabitants in 1849.
