It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field.

The arms are Gules a paschal lamb Argent holding a cross-bearing staff Or flagged Agrent with cross throughout Gules, in chief two rounded crosses Or, in base wavy Azure a barrulet wavy Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "CAPELUDOS".
Meaning:
The lamb usually is an attribute of St. John the Baptist. The base wavy probably symbolizes little river Rio da Portela.
