About the flag

Municipal Unit Kotlas has a status of City District. Its coat of arms was adopted on 15.02.2007, and its flag on 17.02.2011.

The flag was developed based on the coat of arms of the City of Kotlas and is a rectangular cloth of two horizontal equal stripes, the upper one being white and the lower one being blue, with the image of the coat of arms in the center of the flag, placed in a French shield. The coat of arms is a gules field on which is inscribed an azure three-pointed star, the upper ray of which is burdened with a golden star with eight rays and accompanied on either side by two similar stars and above them by two golden fir-trees; on top of all this there is a golden winged railway wheel (the wheel is in the center of the three-pointed star, the wings extend beyond it below the stars accompanying its upper ray). The ratio of the width of the shield to the height of the shield is 7:8, the ratio of the width of the flag to its length is 2:3. The overall width of the main element of the flag - the coat of arms, should be 1/5 of the length of the flag cloth.
