This artistic rendering is clearly not the actual flag, but an interpretation
based on a description, Flags of Avar People
shows a black flag that maybe closer to the real one used.

Flag of Shamkhal Umalat III c.1831
According to Symbols of Dagestan, by
Khalil-Bek Musayal, 1912. There are several “reconstructions” of various
Tarki flags, including one of a nice tricolor, all of which seem to be
	unlikely and too modern.

All the imams were Avars from Dagestan, Imamate was not a Chechen polity.
Even Chechen imam of 1834, Tashev, was a Kumyk from Dagestan. Association of
Chechens with Imamate is post-1991 trend.
