From the meeting minutes of August 12, 2010: "After Veldean Petri made a
short presentation regarding the lack of a City Flag, and her support of a
contest to develop the artwork for the City Flag, Diana Bowman offered to donate
$100 of her stipend to a prize pot for the contest. This was followed by Veldean
Petri, Buck Hakes, Michael Wallace and Don Daniel all offering to donate $50.00.
It was then suggested that the City contribute $300 to the cause, bringing the
total prize package to $600. Veldean Petri motioned that $600 be allocated to
the winner of the Victor City Flag Contest, that the contest entries must be in
to City Hall by 9/30/10, and that the winning entry be announced at the October
14, 2010, Council meeting. Diana Bowman seconded the motion. Roll call vote:
Diana Bowman, yes; Don Daniel, yes, Veldean Petri, yes; Michael Wallace, yes;
Buck Hakes, yes. Motion carried." The deadline was later extended to January 14,
2011.
I am unsure if this flag was the winner, but a Victor flag can be
seen flying at the city hall from 2021 to 2023 on Google Maps. On a blue field,
it depicts the Victor City Hall with the names of the city and state, as well as
the date of establishment. I did not receive a response from the city regarding
my question about this flag.
