Calumet City has reported that it does have a flag, but does not have a
digital image of it.
Valentin Poposki, 9 September 2010
Ehinger Brothers Veterans of Foreign Wars 8141 presented an original Calumet
City flag to the Calumet City Historical Society at this month's meeting. The
Calumet City flag program was a project initiated by Ehinger. Brothers in the
1960s. The commander at the time appointed Edward Bliznik the Americanism
chairman. Bliznik contacted Stan Klekot, a Korean veteran with artistic talents,
to develop and design a flag for the city. Klekot drew the Indian head and the
outside circle. Because of their pride in Calumet City schools, the veteran
community chose school colors to be part of the flag, according to a written
release. The colors include purple and gold from T.F. North, red and white from
St. Andrews, green and yellow from St. Victors, blue and white from Our Lady of
Knock, blue and yellow from Lincoln, red and white from Schrum and blue and
white from Wentworth.
