The flag of Manchester was chosen in a competition held in May 1986. The winning entry was designed by Kevin Seals, a student at Central High School. The flag follows the theme of the Tennessee flag, with the red and blue colors reversed. In the red disc the three stars of Tennessee are replaced by a white silhouette map of the state, with a small blue star indicating the geographic location of Manchester. The white circle separating the red disc from the blue field displays the name "Manchester" and the state "1836."
