Municipality of Makallé in the Department of General Donovan, Chaco, bears the name Fortín Makallé, given by Italian settlers in the area, in homage to the battle of the same name fought by Italy in Abyssinia, Africa, during the first attempt to conquer and usurp the kingdom during the 19th century. It had a population of 3,812 in 2001.

The flag is a vertical tricolor, approximate 1-4-1, blue-white-green, with a collage of an Argentine quarter sun, a man with a hat, a bull and a tree on the white band. The image is from the municipal Facebook page.
