Finally, Dolavon now has its official flag. The municipality confirmed this
on its Facebook page:
"With immense joy and pride, we want to share some
historic news: the winning design of the Our Dolavon Flag contest has been
selected,” the post reads.
For the first time, Dolavon has a flag that
represents us as a community, that carries in its shapes and colors the soul of
our people, its identity, its culture and its roots.
The municipality
thanked all the residents who participated with their proposals, demonstrating
a great commitment to our collective identity. Each design was a true
expression of love for Dolavon.
We especially congratulate AILE, author
of the design chosen by the public after a very close vote."
The
flag includes: a waterwheel, a symbol of the town; a dragon representing the
Welsh community; an arrow and wings representing the Indigenous peoples; and
wheat, in honor of the Flour Mill. The creator will receive a prize of $1
million.
