On 1 January 2016 the new commune of Belmont-Broye was formed by the merger of Domdidier, Dompierre, Léchelles and Russy (see below).

The new commune of Léchelles is made of the former communes of Léchelles and Chandon. The new flag doesn't take over the red colour of the flags of the former entities but only the diagonal wavy stripe from the flag of Chandon. The two stars symbolize the former communes merged into the new political entity.
