TRANSLATION: On the chests, diagonally, blocking, sashes of blue, white and in-charge.Red represented "the blood spilled on the battlefield," white was the snow on the Andes, and blue was the sky over Chile. Like the Patria Nueva, this flag was never proumulgated as an official symbol. It was easily confused with the Netherlands' flag, which was part of the reason it fell out of use.
