The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a red over yellow horizontal bicolour. The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag.

Coat of arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden shield a black bull's head is placed upon the middle base point, a red cross patty upon the middle chief point. The hole is flanked by two red, embattled towers.

The flag is in use since 1994.

The coat of arms was granted on 10 April 1858 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II. Flag and redesigned coat of arms were approved by minister of interior of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania on 1 June 1994, published in the roll of arms of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania as no. 00050.
