Vallendar Associated Municipality Coat of Arms

Shield enhanced parted per fess wavy; above Argent parted by a centred cross Gules; beneath Sable a 4-point star Or parted by a saltire Sable, orle Or.
Meaning:
The upper half displays the arms of the Archbishopric of Trier, to which the area historically belonged. The star with four points is representing the four municipalities of the entity.

Niederwerth Municipality

Niederwerth Banner

It is a blue vertical monocolour. On its centre is a green island charged in its centre with thwe coat of arms of the municipality. At its top the island is superimposed by an embowed bridge of white and black, at its bottom by a boat of the same.

Niederwerth Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent parted by a centred cross Gules, at sinister Sable a coronet Or.
Meaning:
The village was first mentioned in the 13th century. It consists of Niederwerth Island and Graswerth Island. The latter is an uninhabited nature sanctuary. The island on flag shows the silhouette of the inhabited main island. It consists of a small settlement core and extended fields for the production of vegetables, especially asparagus and strwberries. The bridge is a representation of the current bridge, connecting the island with Vallendar. The 1st bridge was destroyed by French troops during the War of the First Coalition (1792 - 1797). After the destruction a ferry had been the only connection to the right bank of the Rhine, represented by the boat on banner. The dexter half of the shield displays the arms of the Archbishopric of Trier, to which the village historically belonged. The coronet is an attribute of St. Mary, patron saint of the Niederwerth Nunnery, which belonged to different orders through the centuries. It was dissolved in 1811.

Urbar Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Argent parted by a centred cross Gules, beneath Sable a rowing boat Argent with two oars Or in pale.
Meaning:
The upper part displays the arms of the Archbishopric of Trier, to which the village historically belonged. The name of the municipality is drived from "overvare", which is a ferry ride. The ferry connected Urbar and Neuendorf. The rowing boat is thus canting.

Vallendar Coat of Arms

French shield parted per pale; at dexter Gules a lion rampant guardant Or, armed and tongued Azure; at sinister Argent parted by a centred cross Gules, mural crown Argent with three visible towers.
Meaning:
Vallendar had been a condominion of the Counts of Sayn and the Archbishops of Trier. The oldest seal of lay judges in the 14th century displayed either the cross of Trier or the lion of Sayn, connected with their patron saints, St. Marcellinus and St .Peter. Between 1681 and 1767 the archbishopric gained complete control over the city. The current arms are symbolising the former circumstances. Vallendar gained city rights in 1856.

Weitersburg Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above Gules a demi-lion rampant guardant issuant Or, armed and tongued Azure; beneath Or a Roman cottage Gules.
Meaning:
The upper half is a differentiation of the arms of the Counts of Sayn, who endowed the Premonstratensian Sayn Abbey in 1202. The cottage is representing a Roman estate, which was rediscovered in 1896.
