Unteregg Coat of Arms

Shield Argent chapé embowed Sable at dexter and Azure at sinister, in base a cross patty Azure, at dexter a rosette Or, at sinister a Marian crown Or gemmed Gules, chief Argent a fess Gules.
Meaning:
During the 15th century Hans of Stein acquired all local estates, especially also the bailiwick, the rights of a reeve, in 1461. The village was inherited in 1585 by the Lords of Schönau and in 1757 by the Benedictine Ottobeuren Imperial Abbey. The abbey established a court, being in charge of Oberegg, Unteregg and several hamlets. The rosette is taken from the arms of the abbey. The crown is an attribute of St. Mary, who is local patron saint as Patrona Bavariae (=patron of Bayern) and is also representing Oberegg. The cross, known as cross of St. Ulrich, patron saint of Warmisried is also representing the village. The red fess is a representation of the salt road, which crossed the village.
