Presentation of Le Bono

Le Bono (2,567 inhabitants in 2020; 596 ha) is a commune in the Morbihan department.

Located at the confluence of the Auray river and the Bono river, Le Bono was once one of the hamlets of the town of Plougoumelen. The municipality of Bono (the official name is Bono wothout “Le”) was created in 1947.
Restored in 2006, the old Bono suspension bridge is one of the last two structures of this type still in service in France. It is listed in the inventory of historical monuments. Built between 1838 and 1840, it has undergone many periods of closure and repair. 96 m long, this bridge spans the Bono river near the Bono harbor. The bridge allowed the inhabitants of Plougoumelen to go to Auray without taking the barge.

Flag of Le Bono

According to Frecnh vexillologist Pascal Vagnat, the flag, spotted in the French TV programme La Carte aux Trésors in august 2001, was white with logo (source).

A competition to change the logo was launched in august 2021. The new logo was adopted in january 2022 (source: Ouest-France). However, no flag has been spotted with this new logo - and no local flag spotted at all on the city hall (photo, 2022).
