Couzeix (9,828 inhabitants in 2021; 3,069 ha) is a commune in the Haute-Vienne department.

In the 11th century, we find traces of a provostship established by the abbots of Saint-Martial in Limoges and around which some dwellings developed quite quickly. During the centuries following its installation, the name changed several times to arrive at the current spelling towards the end of the 15th century. Couzeix was nicknamed "little Limoges" already in the 13th century. In 1631, Couzeix was spared by the plague which raged in Limoges and the Carmelites of this city took refuge in the Château du Mas-de-l'Age, in Couzeix.
