Sulaymaniyah University was
established in 1968 and later on reopened in the year 1992. The university uses
a diagonal flag, which is the logo on a pinkish-red field.

The logo depicts underneath the university name in Arabic. In a mostly
circular format, the bottom ends where a golden book is placed (having as its
pages the fields for agriculture), and above it the year 1968 of its foundation.
The circle is outlined in black, white, red, white, then black. Over the red
ring is a crop and white rectangle on both sides, and the text UNIVERSITY OF
SULAIMANI is read. In the center of the circle is a blue sky background from
which sun rays emerge behind a green mountain topped in snow.
