Famiglie Arcobaleno (English: Rainbow Families), formally "Associazione Famiglie Arcobaleno A.P.S. (Associazioni di Promozione Sociale) (English: Social promotion Association) is an independent association born in March 2005 and is made up of diverse sexual oriented parents, couples, singles or separated who have carried out their own parenting project, or who aspire to do so.

The logo's official description is as follows (original in Italian):
"Three hearts, two larger ones on the sides and one smaller one in the centre. Simple and effective, the Famiglie Arcobaleno logo was not born from the pen of a professional, but from the hands of a child daughter of a same-parent couple, who wanted to represent their family in this way: her two mothers who are next to her and they protect her."
