The flag of Carmen, not adopted by official means, is white with the coat of arms centered upon it. Two variants exist: one with lighter details (blue water, white border,
black on eagle) and another with darker details (a golden border, brown on eagle, green water, and a more golden lion). Both variants are displayed together.

The coat of arms was granted on 2 October 1828, the day when Carmen's status was upgraded to the status of Villa under the administration of the State of Yucatán. Its designer is unknown. Description as provided by the council:
The coat of arms of Carmen is a circular oval limited by a ring in gray which has the legend "La Laguna por Yucatán y ambas por la República Mexicana" [The lagoon for Yucatán and both for the Mexican Republic]. In the center of the oval the Laguna de Términos is found, and over it the island of Carmen. The lion symbolizes the European conquering of Mexico during the Spanish dominion and the French intervention; it is on the island and over it an eagle, it damages him with his beak and claws. The eagle symbolizes the Carmelite people, avoiding that a foreign nation should intervene in its territory and the nation.
