The coat of arms was adopted in 1994. It has the same form as the coat of arms of the state. At the top is a helmet and, under, a ribbon in the National Colors reading PESQUERIA N.L.; though some versions have the ribbon different. The sides of the border read SUPERACIÓN PROGRESO [Overcoming, Progress]. At the bottom of the border are the years 1844, when it became a Villa, and 1994, when the coat of arms was adopted. The upper-left section depicts the Municipal Building. The upper-right section depicts a crowned red rampant lion, symbol of the state. The lower-left section depicts the Pesquería River with mountains in view. The lower-right section depicts the Our Lady of Loreto church. Finally, in the center is an inescutcheon; it depicts a cob of corn, ear of wheat, cogwheel, and bovine; these represent agriculture, industry, and cattle-raising as the economic activities, respectively.
