The present flag (adopted 18 May 1999) is derived from the Coat of Arms (which
was part of the Coat of Arms of William the Silent) and symbolizes the castle of
Buren. And so did the old flag, (which was adopted after 1962 and wappered
in Buren until 1999), included also in this message.

From https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vlag_van_Zoelen:
Until 1978, the Zoelen flag was the municipal flag of the former municipality. The flag was discontinued as a municipal flag in 1978 when the municipality of Zoelen was merged with Buren.
The flag is a square flag consisting of two strips of equal height in the colors yellow and blue, the white canton on the left depicts the municipal coat of arms of Zoelen, a red cross on white.
