Shield Azure, an eradicated chestnut tree Argent leaved Or and fruited Vert, in chief a Marian crown Or, flanked by two grapevines Or leaved Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "CASTANHEIRO DO SUL".
Meaning:
The chestnut tree (Port.: castanheiro) is a canting element. The crown is alluding to Our Lady of Assumption, the local patron saint.
