Municipal flag of Dobrepolje, horizontal and vertical versions - Images by Željko Heimer, 8 October 1999

The name of municipality of Dobrepolje may be very tentatively translated as "Good fields", surely related to the fertile land which is also shown in the coat of arms.
Željko Heimer, 8 October 1999
The coat of arms and flag of Dobrepolje are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi Občine Dobrepolje, adopted on 30 May 1996, and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 32/1996, 20 June 1996, with effect the day of publication.
The symbols were designed by Valt Jurečič of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.
The flag is rectangular, in proportions 2:5, vertically divided
blue-yellow (9:11, or 45%:55%), with the bell from the
coat of arms in the blue field. The height of the
bell is prescribed to be at least 2/3 and at most 8/10 of the hoist
size.
Regarding the size of the fields, Valt explains they were
initially intended to divide the flag in half, but when
considering the balance of the colours, it was decided that making
the blue field somewhat smaller than the yellow one would yield a
much better visual effect.
It is not clear from the decision if the vertical flag is prescribed, but it is mentioned in the caption of the flag image, in regard with rotation of the "attribute from the coat of arms" (as it is called).
The colour specifications are given in the Decision as (Intercolor '87 Cinkarna Celje system; CMYK):
- Yellow: Y100, M10; CMYK 0-20-100-0
- Blue: C100, M50; CMYK 100-35-0-10
- Red: Y100, M90; CMYK 0-90-100-10
- Green: Y100, C100; CMYK 100-0-100-40
Stanič & Jakopič [j2s05] give the Pantone colours as:
- Light yellow: Pantone 109
- Golden yellow: Pantone 1225
- Blue: Pantone 300
- Green: Pantone 355
- Black: Pantone Black

Coat of arms of Dobrepolje - Image by Željko Heimer, 8 October 1999
The coat of arms of Dobrepolje is described as a Gothic shield from the XVth
century, vertically divided by a thin ribbon of silver, being 1/35 of
shield width. It can be blazoned as "Per pale, vert a wheat stalk or with 24 grains and two leaves, azure a church bell or with a Catholic cross" (as it
is called in the Decision).
The shield is outlined with gold. There is also a thin white
"field" inbetween, which is not specifically mentioned, but
clearly present on the drawings accompanying the Decision.
Valt mentioned that he used two shades of yellow in the bell "for good measure", but the difference is not mentioned in the blazon (and of course, should not be).
