The coat of arms and the flag of Vojnik are prescribed by Decision Odlok o obliki in načinu uporabe simbolov ter pečatov Občine Vojnik, adopted on 17 April 1996 and published on 17 May 1996 in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 26/1196.
The subsequent amendments Odlok o spremembah odloka o obliki in načinu uporabe simbolov ter pečatov Občine Vojnik (text), adopted on 10 November 1999 and published on 3 December 1999 in Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 98/1999, and Odlok o spremembah odloka o obliki in načinu uporabe simbolov ter pečatov Občine Vojnik (text), adopted on 26 November 2003 and published on 24 December 2003 in Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 131/2003, concern only the municipal seal.

The flag is in proportions 3:1, to be vertically hoisted. The flag is of an unusual light green shade (15% Pantone 361) with the coat of arms set in the middle of the boundary of the lower and the central squares.
The municipal journal Ogledalo, Glasilo Občine Vojnik, 75, 30 April 2010, shows photos of a variant of the flag, slightly darker and with the writing "VOJNIK" under the coat of arms, used either as a table flag (p. 16) or as a "true" flag (p. 42).

The coat of arms of Vojnik is "Per pale, vert a crown or, gules a fess argent".
The coat of arms is the exact copy of the image in Pichinger's book, which is in turn a drawing of the 1479 seal. The only difference between Pichinger's depiction and the modern coat of arms is the black line dividing the fields into two parts.
