Continental Automotive Systems is a division of Germany-based Continental AG.
Continental AG was founded in 1871 and specializes in tires, brake systems,
automotive safety, power-train and chassis components, and other parts for the
automotive and transportation industries. Continental Automotive Systems was
founded in 1906 by Alfred Teves, and supplies brakes, electronics, lithium-ion
batteries, and engineering services to the automotive industry. Continental
Automotive Systems is divided into two sections: Continental Temic, which
handles auto electronics; and Continental Teves, which develops and manufactures
hydraulic and electronic braking systems, stability control systems, and
electronic air suspension systems. Continental Teves is headquartered in
Culpeper, Virginia, and operates a manufacturing facility there. Outside the
building fly three flags: the American flag, the Virginia flag, and the
Continental Teves corporate flag.
The Continental Teves flag features the
Continental Teves logo in black centered on a gold field. The logo itself is in
two sections. The top part consists of the standard Continental corporate logo,
containing the word "Continental" in black lettering, with a circular seal to
the left of the name showing a horse on its hind legs. Below the circular seal
and toward the fly of the flag is the word "TEVES" in black capital letters.
