Maumelle is a part of the Little Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The flag that is used by Maumelle is using a symbol (unofficially called the "Maumelle Rings") on a blue background; below the rings is the name of the city in gold.
The symbolism behind the rings, even to the residents, is unknown, however according to www.maumellefire.com/ourdept/logo.htm it was selected by Maumelle
founding father Jess Odom. This symbol, according to the site, is used on the city seal and other sectors of the city.

These Maumelle Rings are not linked-in like a classical symmetrical group, each coming into the centre over a neighbour on one side, and under the neighbour on the other. Instead, the lower two are so linked, and the upper goes around the point where the two meet. That means the upper one comes into the centre over it's neighbours on both sides, but then merely passes under and doesn't link through the others there.
