Introduction

After Texas localized Thin Line Flags, designs were introduced for California as well. The basic design is also derived from the state flag by its repainting into a grayscale color scheme and changing the ratio from 2:3 into 3:5.

On this flag, the white color is replaced with light gray (except for bear's claws and eye, which remain white), dark brown is replaced with black, medium brown and green are both replaced with dark gray and red is also replaced with black (except for bear's tongue, which is dark gray). A narrow horizontal blue stripe is centered upon bottom black stripe, occupying about 1/4 of its width.
