The flag

The Sertoma Club of Venice held a flag contest in 1984. The winning flag, chosen from 4 dozen entries, was designed by Jeffrey Soderland, then a senior at Venice High School. The flag includes such elements as Gulf shores, Venice farms, the old Hotel Venice, Kentucky Military Institute, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. The flag was officially adopted with Resolution No. 851-84 on 14 November 1984.
