Description of the Flag
The town adopted a new flag presumably around the same time as the new seal. The flag consists a tri-bar of green-gold-green, and in the center is said seal.

"The "Crain Monument" logo of the Town of Upper Marlboro consists of a circular disk, the center of which contains sky, monument, buildings, houses, and a horse in the colors of green, gold and blue. The disk is surrounded by a greenish circle, the upper half of which contains the words "Town of Upper " in green capital letters and the lower half of which contains the words "Marlboro" in green capital letters. There are the abbreviated word “ESTD” on the left side and “1706” on the right. This logo replaces the Duke of Marlborough shield surrounded by a tobacco leaf logo as the town’s official logo."

Upper Marlboro is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, also serving as the seat of the county government.
The town residents voted on a flag and slogan for the town. The website showed four candidate designs for the town flag:
- A French-style vertical tricolor of blue-white-red, with the town seal centered on the white stripe and the town slogan ("Where the Star Spangled Banner Began") in small letters beneath the seal
- In the style of the "King's Colours" from America's colonial period, with the town seat appearing on a white octagon at the convergence of the St. George's and St. Patrick's crosses, and the town slogan in small letters across the bottom of the flag
- An approximately 1:1.5 version of the English St. George's Cross, with a very wide red cross, at the center of which is a blue shield bearing a yellow fleur-de-lis in both upper corners as well as the lower point and the town seal in the middle; no slogan on this one
- A horizontal tribar of blue-white-blue, with the white stripe roughly 1.5 times the width of the blue stripes, the town seal centered on the white stripe, and the town slogan in small letters in the lower blue stripe
The town flag was officially announced at the 7 June 2016 town meeting. And the winner... none of the four on the website for voting. The winning flag design, posted on the town's Facebook page, can be described as a blue St. George's cross on a white field, with the town seal centered at the convergence of the arms of the cross, flanked by a gold fleur-de-lis on each horizontal arm of the cross, with parchment-like banners above and below the seal. The banner above the seal bears the words "Town of Upper Marlboro" in an Old English script, while the banner below the seal bears the slogan "WHERE THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER BEGAN" in capital /sans serif/ letters.
There are additional photographs on the town's Facebook page, here and
here that show the flag in-use in preparation for and during the Parade of Flags at the Maryland Municipal League's Hall of Flags.
