According to an article by Michigan Live, the logo was first introduced on Dec. 31, 2008

It took a year, but Carrollton Township officials have settled on a new emblem for the township. Board of Trustees members this week approved the logo, one month after adding final suggestions.

The logo, in the township's colors of black and red, labels Carrollton as "A Progressive Saginaw River Valley Community." It stresses four of the township's assets: community, technology, transportation and riverfront.

Township officials wanted the logo approved in time to have a flag made for an upcoming Michigan Township Association meeting in January. Officials also will place the seal on several entrance signs around the township, most likely three on Michigan and one on Shattuck. Officials will use the seal on stationery.
