Description of the flag

The flag is a blue field with the former town seal in the center, The seal shows the Trinity College Memorial Gazebo, which honors Trinity College that was founded in 1859 before moving to Durham in 1892, and would later become Duke University. Under the gazebo is the city name with it's incorporation year of 1997. The seal's ring is made of three curved arrows with the words in order of "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow." Above the seal is the town's name.
