The Catron County flag was adopted for its hoisting in the state capitol in 1993. It is believed the county government does not own a copy of its own flag, and is only found there in the state capitol. The flag is composed of a yellow field with a circle in the center. To the left are the words "STATE OF NEW MEXICO"; to the right are the words "COUNTY OF CATRON", all descending. In each corner of the circle is a representative image of the county. In the upper-left is an image of the forest by a mountain; to the upper-right a man on a horse in front of a scenic area; to the lower-left an image of an Indian shooting a deer in the forest; to the lower-right a man panning for gold. Inside the circle, at the top is the word RANCHING and 1921, the year it was formed. At the bottom is the word RECREATION. To the left side is the word TIMBER placed vertically; likewise, to the right is the word MINING. As a centerpiece, a labeled map of the county with its roads and town/landform names is depicted.
