It would appear the flags produced by the National Flag company in November 2013 were among the first new Socorro county flags to be manufactured, since there are no records of one being used before this time, meaning the flag was adopted during this time. The county seal is circular, with a turquoise ring (state gem) outlined in yellow; outside, there is also even darker turquoise outlining. The main turquoise ring reads the text "SOCORRO COUNTY" at the top, and "NEW MEXICO" at the bottom. Hills, prairie, and desert are depicted in the inner circle, with mountains in the distance and a Zia sun symbol just above, with the sun behind these mountains. A stream (likely referencing the Rio Grande as the lifeblood of the county), divides the inner section into two; on the right is a farmer and a swan, while on the left bank is a rancher and his two cattle. Behind the rancher is what is often known as "A Very Large Solar Array", found in the western end of the county.

The Socorro County flag at the State Capitol depicts an older county logo it appears. It depicts a typical scene of the county courthouse, with its clouds above, trees, bushes, and road in front. Just below the scene are the words "SOCORRO COUNTY".
