Brothertown Indians of Wisconsin
Eeyam Quittoowauconnuck
Descendants of the Pequot and Mohegan (Algonquin) Nations, relocated from upstate New York to Wisconsin between 1831 and 1836 and settled on the shores of Lake Winnebago. It was the first Indian group to acquire the American citizenship in 1839, the fact which, wrongly, was assumed that they gave up their sovereignty. They were stripped of the federal recognition in 1970s and now, since 1981, are petitioning for the re-recognition. Today's membership is about 2400 (1999).
Tribal headquarters are in Fond du Lac, WI

Just to expand a little on the historical origins of the Brothertown. Both their own website and the Wikipedia entry on them are a bit inconsistent. In places both say they are descendants of the Pequot and Mohegan, but in other places they say they were descended from Pequot, Mohegan, Narragansett, Montauk, Tunxis, and Niantic.

The main feature of their blue flag is the tribal seal, with the names in English and native languages in black lettering.
